About Folks

Folks is an online magazine dedicated to telling the stories of remarkable people who refuse to be defined by their health issues. By sharing the experiences of these individuals, we hope to change people’s notions about what it means to be ‘normal’.

Editorially independent, Folks is sponsored and published by PillPack. Part of our mission at PillPack is to create healthcare experiences that empower people. We believe that people are more than just their conditions, and managing health is an important part of everyone’s life.

We pay our contributors, we don’t sell advertising, and we don’t promote PillPack in our articles.

What kind of stories does Folks publish?

Folks aims to tell narratively well-written, humanist stories about people living with chronic conditions in a way that neither reduces them to their conditions, or objectifies them. While our editorial goal is to highlight people with chronic conditions, we aim to do so in a way that tells the story of a person beyond the condition they are living with. Our stories are about interesting humans, for whom managing a chronic condition is just another layer in a rich and varied life. By telling these stories, we hope to destroy at least some of the stigma that still surrounds health.

Is Folks accepting pitches from new writers?
